This is a handcarved & handpainted solid wood Shoveler hen decoy that was made by Canadian carver Maynard Caine. Outstanding form and paint detail.

Original paint. Glass eyes. Signed with his standard MC inscribed mark (see photos).

Measures 15-3/4" tip to tip by 5" wide and sits 5-3/8" high to the top of the head. True shoveler bill, with extra carving detail on top and bottom of bill.

No chips, or gouges, or paint loss, but displays an overall slight dulling to the finish due to its age.

There is a thin stress crack that runs on a diagonal on top of its back. This is noticable upon close inspection. Does not detract from the character of this piece.
